Megiddo II: The New Age

Is the New Age really new? Or does it represent the ancient doctrine taught by the serpent to Eve in the Garden of Eden? The answer will startle and amaze you as you learn the influence of the serpent's teaching through the spiritual explosion of occult activity in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Robert Schuller has long since revealed himself as a purveyor of new age doctrines, and in direct opposition to the true Gospel of salvation by faith in Jesus Christ alone.  As we show in our documentary, “Megiddo II: The New Age,” Schuller preaches the “wide” gospel which promotes many paths to finding God.  Now he is promoting his so-called “rethink” conference this January at the Crystal Cathedral.  Among the speakers at the event are Larry King (who consistently embraces new age occultists on his show), former President George H.W. Bush (former head of the CIA, who has mentioned the New World Order publicly more than anyone else in modern history), Chuck Colson (who accepted the famed “Templeton Award for Progress in Religion” which specifically denies the Gospel of Jesus Christ), Rupert Murdoch (owner of Fox News, the New York Post & London Times, who also owns a host of pornographic channels -- whose pastor is supposedly Rick Warren) – to name a few.

The very title of this event “RE-THINK” calls to mind the whole philosophy of the new age movement, which began with the “New Thought” movement of the 19th century.  The principle behind “new thought” was that in order for a person to achieve “healing,” they must change the way they think.  In particular, they must abandon their preconceived ideas about God and the devil, heaven and hell, sin and death.  Their old thought process must then be replaced with “new” thoughts about each of these issues, which then lead a person to the self realization that they are, in fact, a god.  Their illness or lack of success was because of the superstitious ideas confusing them.  Once they remove those thoughts and realize their true godhood, then they can be delivered from whatever ails them.  These basic principles lie at the heart of all the self-help and self-empowerment books and tapes that have flooded the market in recent decades, and are the teachings behind the book and video, “The Secret.”

It will be very interesting to see what comes out from Robert Schuller’s “Re-think” Conference.  Are they planning to officially announce re-thinking Christianity?  Could it be for this reason that Schuller has gathered such influential leaders as George Bush and Rupert Murdoch?  To read more on the Rethink Conference, click here.

“God also gave them up to uncleanness through
the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own
bodies … who exchanged the truth of God for a
lie … Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication,
wickedness … knowing the judgment of God, that
they who commit such things are worthy of death,
not only do the same but have pleasure in them that
do them.” (Romans 1:24-25, 29, 32)

The “gay” agenda moves forward with alarming strength in our society, changing laws and ignoring the views of most Americans.  If polled, most American parents would not want their children to be taught homosexuality at school. Nevertheless, certain legislators in California are insisting they have no choice. Is this democracy?  Or veiled tyranny masquerading itself as liberty? The liberty they promote only applies to the gay community, which makes up a minor percentage in our society. Most of the people who are having kids, sending them to school, and paying the tax dollars to fund those schools are not homosexuals. At some point, we have to ask, who is driving this agenda?

Soon, we will be releasing our new documentary, The Kinsey Syndrome, which will show how the influence of The Kinsey Reports from the 1940’s and 50’s spawned the sexual revolution that would gain momentum in the 1960’s and 70’s.  One of those influenced by Kinsey’s research was Harry Hay, the founder of the gay rights movement.  Interestingly enough, Hay was also a strong advocate for “pedophile-rights” as was Kinsey.  Throughout his life, Hay shamelessly supported NAMBLA (the North American Man Boy Love Association) hand-in-glove with his homosexual activism.  Not coincidentally, NAMBLA has always referred to Kinsey as their chief inspiration, quoting from Kinsey’s research to support their vile ambitions.  Kinsey’s co-author, Paul Gebhard admitted to working with a “pedophile organization” when amassing data for Kinsey’s “Sexual Behavior in the Human Male.”  Dr. Judith Reisman believes this organization may have been the nucleus for NAMBLA itself.

According to Dr. Reisman (who is the leading expert on Kinsey and his influence) the
sex education programs in American schools were designed by so-called “experts” who were either pedophiles or those who professed the pedophile philosophy.  In short, they believe it is okay for adults to have sex with children, and that the only “trauma” children experience from being raped, is the “hysterical” reaction of parents and the rest of society.

I have spoken with Dr. Reisman many times, and she asserts firmly that the real agenda behind sex education is to prepare America’s children to be seduced by child molesters. The more children are taught about sex, shown sexual images (under the guise of “scientific study”) and conditioned to believe that same sex relationships are acceptable – the less likely they will be surprised when adult men and women approach them for sexual activity.  A young boy who’s been taught that same sex relationships are okay, will not be as alarmed when he is raped by an older homosexual man.  According to Dr. Reisman, the super-objective of sex education and the gay rights movement is to ultimately repeal all laws that limit “sexual-orientation” of any kind, including limitations against child rapists.

In fact, this cartoon (pictured left) from Playboy Magazine spells it out quite clearly.  Hugh Hefner has been one of Kinsey’s most devoted disciples, and founded Playboy Magazine as the “pamphleteer” for Kinsey’s philosophy.  In this cartoon, we see two young girls looking at a pervert hiding in the bushes.  He wears a sign that reads, “Sex Education.”  Hefner claims that “down to the last comma” his magazine is planned in every detail.  With his knowledge of Kinsey’s research and influence in establishing our sex education programs, it seems unlikely that he would be unaware of the obvious implication: What lies behind sex education are perverts looking to molest kids.

To understand how the gay rights movement relates to the pedophile rights movement, consider the history of the American Psychiatric Association.  Until the 1970’s, they classified homosexuality as an “abnormal” mental condition.  Then, in 1973 the APA moved homosexuality from the abnormal to the “normal” category.  Herein is the root of the problem with psychology as a whole.  Its entire basis is founded on the idea of determining the normal human psychiatric condition. From there, it classifies anything outside that framework as abnormal.  But who decides what is normal? Normal for who?  Normal for Charles Manson is not necessarily normal for George Washington.  And if pedophiles are running the APA and influencing our sex education programs, what sort of “normal” behavior are they likely to define for our kids?

In May of 2003, the APA sought to reclassify pedophiles (along with sadomasochists and transvestites).  Once considered “abnormal” behavior, the APA put forth a study which suggested that pedophilia could be normal – under certain circumstances.  The Traditional Values Coalition examined the “circumstances” suggested by the APA, and reported the following:

“In essence, if the child molester felt guilty about abusing children, he was considered to be mentally disordered.  If he felt no guilt, he was considered normal.” (TVC article, “Pedophiles/Sex Torturers Seek Normalization”)  To read the full article from TVC, click here

But the academic community has been at this for years.  According to Dr. Reisman: “By 1987 many … academicians came out as pedophiles in their pseudo scholarly, publication, The Journal of Paedophilia while professors in major universities worked covertly to gain unlimited sexual access to their children, and ours.” (Source: The APAs: Academic Pedophile Advocates, by Dr. Judith Reisman)

In the past, Dr. Laura Schlessinger has confronted the APA’s research, saying "I'm scared this study could be used to normalize pedophilia, to change the legal system ... like it did homosexuality" (Ibid, Reisman quoting Dr. Schlessinger). We highly recommend Dr. Judith Reisman’s article on this issue.  Please read to the end of the article, where Dr. Reisman describes the attempted “pedophile abduction rights bill” of 1994.  To read more, click here.

Remember that Jesus said “as it was in the days of Lot” (who lived in Sodom) “Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed” (Luke 17:28, 30).  We firmly believe that The Kinsey Reports, the sexual revolution, the gay rights movement, and its coattail – pedophilia – are all part of the fulfillment of the Lord’s prophetic warning about the normalization of immorality in the end times.

“But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and
worse …” (2 Tim. 3:13)

“And when these things begin to come to pass, then
look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption
draweth near.” (Luke 21:28)

To learn more about where this is headed, and to hear it “from the horse’s mouth” so to speak, check out this article from NARTH (National Association for Research & Therapy of Homosexuality) which discusses the APA’s evolving views on pedophilia.  For those who would argue that “gay rights” has nothing to do with child molestation, ask the question: why does a homosexual organization care so much about the pedophile issue?  Why did gay rights founder, Harry Hay care so much about it?  To read the discussion on NARTH, click here.

The following is a sad story of a 23 year old man who died instantly from a jolt of electricity while trying to hang Christmas lights outside his apartment building.  The article reveals that “he made a small miscalculation, and it cost him his life.”

I remember hearing these kinds of stories on my journey to salvation.  I was living in New York at the time, and my roommate told me about a friend of his who was about 19 years old, and died instantly when a cavity wall in his brain collapsed without warning.  Some time later, I met a 50 year old woman whose husband had recently died from heart failure.  Again, it was without warning.  The autopsy revealed a deficiency in his heart that had been there from birth.  There was no way to detect it.  One day, his heart just stopped working.   Then I remember getting a phone call from my best friend from high school who told me that our mutual friend (a guy named Keith) had also died suddenly and with little warning.  He had been having some stomach pains for months prior, but nothing to send him to the hospital.  Then one day, he was apparently working with his brother-in-law, painting the interior of a room, when he said he needed to go to the bathroom.  After a few minutes, his brother-in-law heard sounds coming from the bathroom, like Keith was in pain.  He knocked on the door and said, “Keith, are you alright?”  He answered, “I don’t know.”  Then a few minutes later, Keith came out and laid down on the bed.  His brother-in-law asked him again, “Are you alright?”  Again, he said, “I don’t know.”  Then a few minutes later, he died.

My friend Keith was thirty years old, and so was I. We had both worked at the same fast food restaurant while in high school and had graduated in the same class.  I remembered that he wrote quite a bit in my year book about how important our friendship was to him, and I was a little surprised that he had expressed such kind words toward me.  Years passed, and for the most part, I didn’t see Keith again for about ten years.  Every once in a while, I would hear about how he was doing through mutual friends.  He’d gotten married.  He had kids.  He was working as a contractor of some sort, painting the inside of hotels.  Then suddenly, he had died.

I realized very quickly that the same could easily happen to me.  The same day I got the news about Keith’s death, was the same day I went out and bought my first Bible.  I realized that the foolish dreams I’d been chasing for so many years were like so much chaff in the wind.  Praise the Lord, He drew me to salvation by faith in His Son, Jesus Christ.

Who but God knows the length of our days?  Or if we will be granted even the next hour?  If we know the Lord, may we be diligent to redeem the time in our service to God here on earth.  And if you don’t know the Lord Jesus, I hope the following story will inspire you to seek the truth – before it’s too late.  Click here to read the article.

The latest fantasy adventure film released from Hollywood pushes the envelope way beyond Harry Potter or anything else before it, in terms of defying the God of the Bible and teaching children to look favorably upon the rebellion of Satan and his demons.  Best selling author, Philip Pullman has been writing “children’s books” for years, one of which has now been turned into a feature film.  Pullman states that his books are “about killing God,” and getting children to “decide against God and the kingdom of heaven.”  If you haven’t learned this already, please know that these things are documented in mainstream press.

The following article by our dear brother, Pastor Joe Schimmel of Fight the Good Fight Ministries, is extremely important.  Those of us who have studied occult writings in light of Bible prophecy have identified a teaching among new agers and occultists of every stripe that suggests that Lucifer and his Antichrist will actually win the battle of Armageddon.  As such, followers of occult philosophy (some of whom openly recognize Armageddon as a reality) are convinced that they can defeat the God who created them and take over the universe.  Of course, their thinking is sheer madness, but is, nevertheless, foretold in the Bible:

“Why do the heathen rage, and the peoples imagine
a vain thing?  The kings of the earth set themselves,
and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord,
and against his Anointed (i.e. Christ).”
(Psalm 2:2)

In our films, we often document the beliefs of secret societies that have taken control of the various governments of the world, which are laboring to bring about their global empire.  As we have shown, the beliefs of these societies – while outwardly philanthropic – have at their core the desire to destroy Christianity, and if it were possible, the Christ she represents.  The climax of this conflict is further explained in the Book of Revelation, as the kings of the earth, along with Antichrist, are eventually gathered to make war against the Lord Jesus Christ:

“… ten kings … receive power … with the beast ….
These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb
shall overcome them; for he is Lord of lords, and
King of kings …” (Revelation 17:12, 14)

“And I saw heaven opened and, behold, a white
horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful
and True … And I saw the beast, and the kings of
the earth, and their armies gathered together to
make war against him that sat on the horse, and
against his army.” (Revelation 19:11, 19)

In short, this is what lies behind the story of “The Golden Compass.”  The devil’s objective seems clear.  Get to the kids and start teaching them open rebellion now, to prepare the next generation (possibly) for Armageddon.  These books are specifically designed to sow seeds of demonic hatred in their hearts, and the idea of “killing God” in their imaginations.  If you are a parent who has children that are either into Pullman’s books, or this movie, you need to learn about this without delay.  To read Pastor Joe’s article, and his detailed expose of the openly satanic philosophy behind “The Golden Compass,” click here.

This story from Reuters reveals a recent court order that requires the secret service to make known “records of visits by nine prominent Christian leaders to the White House and Vice President Dick Cheney’s residence.”  The investigation is based on a case filed by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, whose Executive Director has said, “We think that these conservative Christian leaders have had a very big impact …” (i.e. on the Bush administration).  If true, we as Christians must wonder what sort of impact it was.  Certainly, President Bush was not influenced to recognize the false god of Islam (who, in the Koran denies the crucifixion, and declares that those who believe in a Triune God will go to hell) as a demonic entity, but has rather equated “Allah” with the God of the Bible, over and over again.  As we reveal in Riddles in Stone, Bush openly denies that Jesus Christ is the only path to salvation – something documented in his ABC interview with Charles Gibson (see our docu-clips page to watch the video clip).   What then did these Christian leaders influence?

For some time now, other ministries have been warning that Bush’s support by conservative, right-wing, evangelicals will ultimately backlash, and be used to fuel further hatred against Christianity.  Obviously, if President Bush were being persecuted because of his Christian beliefs, we would heartily support him.  The irony here is that Bush’s beliefs are not Christian, but he has been sold as such by evangelicals who have been overly desperate to have a president on their side in the White House.  As a consequence, Christianity takes the blame for the behavior of a false witness.  It should be interesting to see how these events unfold. The Christian Anti-Defamation Commission has put together a list of what it considers to be the 7 worst examples of anti-Christian activity in the year 2007.  At the top of the list are the church shootings that took place in Colorado.  It turns out that the gunman (24 year old Matthew Murray) had contacted our home church in California some months before he carried out the shootings.  I had spoken with Pastor Joe Schimmel shortly before he shared his story with World Net Daily, about how Murray had written to the Fight the Good Fight Ministry website about his “secret drug addiction.”  FTGF is dedicated to exposing the influence of Satanism in rock music, and is the producer of “They Sold Their Souls for Rock & Roll.”  Because of this, Matthew Murray sent them an email describing his “secret drug” as rock music itself.  He went on to talk about his occult influences, in particular the teachings of Aleister Crowley and Manly P. Hall.  We have exposed both of these men in our documentaries (see Megiddo II: the New Age and Riddles in Stone: The Secret Architecture of Washington D.C.  In fact, our upcoming release, The Kinsey Syndrome will show the influence of Aleister Crowley upon famed sex scientist, Alfred Kinsey, the man known as the “father of the sexual revolution” and author of the controversial “Kinsey Reports.”

Several weeks ago, we documented how Pastor Hagee openly denied that Jesus presented Himself as the Messiah to Israel, saying: “Jesus rejected to the last detail the role of Messiah in both word or deed.” (Hagee, “In Defense of Israel” pp. 144-145)  It turns out that many other ministers and ministries have lifted up a shout against Pastor Hagee over his book, In Defense of Israel, because of this statement and many others.  In his book, he repeatedly declares that, “The Jews were not rejecting Jesus as the Messiah; it was Jesus who was refusing to be the Messiah to the Jews.” (Ibid, p. 140)

Now, Pastor Hagee has issued a letter of clarification, in which he says: “I am deeply grieved for any confusion my writing may have caused the body of Christ.”  In this letter, Hagee goes on to say that he will publish a new edition of “In Defense of Israel,” in which he plans to explain his position more clearly and carefully.  It is quite difficult to imagine how he will amend his book to reconcile his extreme views about Israel, with what the Bible actually says.  In his first edition, Hagee, without reservation or caution of any kind, denied so many scriptures that nothing short of a major overhaul will likely satisfy his critics.  All the same, we think it wise to reserve judgment until his next edition is released.  To read Pastor Hagee’s full letter, click here.

The following email was in response to our newsletter of November 21, 2007 in which we confront John Hagee’s assertion that: “One of those deadly New Testament myths is that the Jews killed Jesus, yet no justification can be found to support this lie.” (Hagee, In Defense of Israel, p. 125)  In response, we quoted six examples from the N.T. that clearly state the Jewish people were considered responsible by the apostles for the death of Jesus Christ.  The real “myth” is the suggestion that quoting the scriptures is somehow “anti-Semitic” (Hagee’s usual accusation).  A friend of our ministry wrote:

I totally agree that Hagee's in disagreement with the scriptures on Jews not needing to be born again for salvation. Being Jewish I'm naturally especially sensitive to how my fellow Jews reactions to our witness for Jesus. What I like to do is to hit hard on the Messianic prophesies and then when led, to quote Jesus in John 10:17,18:

"Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.  No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father."

When witnessing (and I have witnessed a lot over the past 34 years) the discussion as to who put Jesus to death rarely comes up. When asked I just quote those two verses along with the fact that Jesus died for all people, Jews and Gentiles. The Jews were represented by the Sanhedrin who initiated (in a human way), his death, but the Gentiles, represented by Pontius Pilate, were also involved. Certainly what you said was correct, but usually not needed to be explicitly delineated. You might pray about stating something to that effect in your newsletter, so that people don't stir up unnecessary strife when witnessing or teaching.” – Mike

I have since written back to Mike on this issue.  In short, I said to him, “How will the Jewish people one day ‘look upon [Him] whom they have pierced’ (Zech. 12:10) if they have been taught that they did not pierce Him?”  If this is a prophecy yet to be fulfilled, then those who “look” upon Christ must somehow be guilty of His death, and the scripture implies that they know it.  It is unthinkable to suggest that they will see the Lord, deny they had anything to do with his crucifixion, and in their denial somehow be restored.  There is more at stake here than political correctness.  Yet the denial of Israel’s involvement in the death of their Messiah has been consistently handed down by Jewish rabbis, and is now adopted by some evangelicals like John Hagee.

It is true that the Roman Church abused the scriptures, calling the Jews “Christ killers” while ignoring their own guilt.  It was, after all, the “wicked hands” of Rome that ultimately carried out the crucifixion.  Nevertheless, the misuse of God’s word by those who pervert it is no excuse for denying what is clearly written.

For the record, I heartily agree that where witnessing is concerned, it ought to be done with care and compassion.  Just as the Lord did not call the woman at the well an “adulteress,” or the woman taken in adultery “a harlot,” so I do not believe in communicating with the Jewish people (or anyone else) in a manner that would stir up unnecessary strife.  But when someone calls the apostles “liars,” it is quite necessary to contend for the faith.  If the apostles lied about the Jewish responsibility for the death of Christ, then they are false witnesses whose entire testimony is called into question.  Again, there is much at stake.

While Jesus said “No man takes my life from me …” the apostles did not conclude that this statement removed the guilt of Israel (or the Gentiles).  For example, in 1 Thess. 2:15, Paul could have said that “the Jews, who … killed the Lord Jesus, did not really kill him because he laid down his life of himself.” But that is not what he says. No one in the early church taught that.  So to interpret the scriptures that way is inconsistent with the teaching and example of the apostles (Acts 2:42).  The only thing Jesus can mean is that “no man” had the power to kill Him, unless He was willing to permit it. As He told Peter, He could have called upon “twelve legions of angels” (Matt. 26:53) to protect Himself.  Yet just because a man permits you to kill him, doesn’t mean you are not guilty of his death.  The martyrs of Christ through the centuries have permitted themselves to be slaughtered, but their killers are certainly not held innocent for it (see Revelation 6:9-10).

When Stephen called the Jewish leaders “the betrayers and murderers” of Christ (Acts 7:52) they were “cut to the heart” and got so angry they “gnashed on him with their teeth.”  But the scripture makes it clear that he was “full of the Holy Spirit” (v.55) when he said these things.  If Hagee based his faith on the scriptures rather than the counsel of unbelieving rabbis, he might not have written what he did.  Based upon Stephen’s experience, we should not expect the truth to be pleasant to anyone who stubbornly refuses to acknowledge it.

As I close, please let me confirm that I agree with brothers like John MacArthur who, concerning the question of the Lord’s death, makes reference to Peter’s prayer:

“For of a truth against thy holy child, Jesus, whom
thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate,
with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were
gathered together, to do whatever thy hand and thy
counsel determined before to be done.”
(Acts 4:27-28)

In this single verse, both Jews and Gentiles share the guilt for the death of Jesus Christ.  As such, we should follow the example of the early church that set about “warning every man, and teaching every man” (Colossians 1:28) about God's great love for us, in that "while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

“Good Afternoon Chris … I came across a Christian website that had an article written on it, discussing the idea of the KJV 1611 bible being tampered with by Francis Bacon. There was a ministry mentioned on the site, which was said to have used the DVD's from your ministry(*AMERICA'S BEGINNING/RIDDLES IN STONE) in making a case to show that the 1611 KJV had Masonic & ROSICRUXION (sic) Symbolism attached to it. I was shocked to hear this. So I wanted to ask you if you new any of this, and if so, what did you think about this?” – AL

(I have already responded to Al. Below is a modified version of my response with some updated information).

It's quite interesting that you've sent me this email, since the KJV controversy is the subject of a new documentary series we are developing.  Let me begin by saying that I am one who believes the King James translation is the best English translation we have -- primarily because the underlying Greek text (known as Textus Receptus) used by the translators represents the majority text used by most churches from the time of the apostles up until the 19th century.  I tell people that I am King James mostly, Textus Receptus only where the Bible is concerned.

Also, the King James translators were believers -- men who believed that the Bible
represented the Word of God.  Meanwhile, many of the modern translators (men like Westcott and Hort, Bruce Metzger, Cardinal Martini, & Eugene Nida) who show up in the 19th and 20th centuries held (or hold) various unfaithful and blatantly apostate views that are, at best, confused and at worst, heretical.

On Francis Bacon: I'm not sure if you saw "Secret Mysteries" or "Riddles in Stone", but if you watch them, you will notice that we make NO ASSOCIATION between Bacon and the King James Bible.  In fact, I personally interviewed the leading expert in the world on Sir Francis Bacon (his name is Peter Dawkins) who made it clear to me that absolutely no historical evidence exists linking Bacon to the "translation" of the King James Bible.

Yes, it is reported that there are Rosicrucian symbols on the pages of the early KJV.  This has been confirmed by Larry Spargimino (of Southwest Radio Church) who personally contacted a KJV publisher and had him review the pages of an early edition.  Larry told me about this last year when I spoke at the SWRC Prophecy Conference in Lancaster, PA. He said that the KJV publisher he contacted was shocked upon taking a closer look at the images. Were such images in the first edition of the KJV?  I still don't know and have no way to find out at this time.  But the images in question seem to have been added after the translation was finished. It does not seem they were put there by the translators themselves.  Exactly when they showed up is still a mystery, but today, such images do not appear in the King James Bibles.  Furthermore, the real debates are not over certain pictures drawn into our Bibles and what they might mean; but rather, with the words written on the page.

David Bay (my co-producer on the "Secret Mysteries" series) was the one who pointed
out these symbols on his Cutting Edge website.  Despite the accusations of some, David was careful not to attack the King James translation itself.  Please know that David and I do not completely agree on the issue of the modern bibles. David often uses the Amplified Bible (a paraphrase) which was financed by the Lockman Foundation – whose founder, Dewey Lockman, was known as “a philanthropist and member of the Masonic Order.” This is according to the Lockman Foundation website (go to and click on their “history” page).  The Lockman Foundation also financed the NASB, which is often said to be the most “literal word for word translation” but is based upon a different Greek codex than the KJV.

The modern bibles are based primarily on two sets of New Testament manuscripts: the first being Codex Sinaticus, which was found in 1859 at St. Catherine's Monastery at the base of Mount Sinai.  The famed German scholar, Constantin von Tischendorf discovered the first part of Sinaticus in a trash barrel at the monastery in 1844, and recovered the rest years later.  Codex Vaticanus, on the other hand, "emerged" from the Vatican Library during a later time in the 19th century.  From the beginning, Vaticanus has been a strange document, oddly represented by the Catholic church. For years, the Vatican strictly forbade any non-Catholic scholars to get a good look at it. Given the history of Rome's persecution of those who translated the bible into the languages of common people, it is truly alarming that this codex should dominate the modern versions. Westcott and Hort, who held very pro-Catholic views, greatly preferred Vaticanus.

Both Sinaticus and Vaticanus are said to have originated in Egypt, but scholars still don’t fully agree about this.  All that is known is that these documents were found where I’ve stated above.  How they got there is entirely a matter of speculation.

In short, I believe the new bibles to be based on ancient manuscripts that were not deemed authoritative in centuries past.  A century and a half ago, they resurfaced, and are (I believe) being used to lay the groundwork for the great apostasy foretold in the scriptures by the apostle Paul (2 Thess. 2:3).  Many Christians are quite unaware that the real debates on the bible do not really involve the English text, but rather the Greek that supports them.  This becomes a critical issue when one hears a pastor or teacher base his view on the twisting and turning of a particular Greek word.  When he says, “In the Greek,” exactly what Greek does he mean?  What manuscript is he referring to?  Does he even know?  And if he’s based a doctrine about life and death on a single word – consider what is at stake.  Furthermore, the modern bibles generally use a paraphrase method called dynamic equivalency for translation. This method, whose greatest promoter was Eugene Nida, is used by the United Bible Society to translate bibles in hundreds of languages around the world. With each successive translation, this method has allowed for further and further removal from the original words of God.

Some books I can recommend on this subject are: "Defending the King James Bible" by Pastor D.A. Waite, along with "Faith vs. The Modern Bible Versions" and “The Modern Bible Version Hall of Shame” -- both titles by David W. Cloud.  Cloud (in MBVHS) especially demonstrates how the “revolutionary” thinking of German “rationalism” began questioning the historical accuracy of biblical texts long before Sinaticus and Vaticanus emerged.  Once they appeared, they were seized upon by skeptics and Unitarians looking for an opportunity to refute the trustworthiness of God’s Word at every turn.  While some of the 20th century English translators may have been quite sincere in their work, their translations can only be as good as the underlying manuscripts they are based upon.
