THE MANHATTAN DECLARATION
Understanding the information we put forth in A Lamp in the Dark could not be more relevant to the Church today, especially as it pertains to the Counter Reformation. The devil’s latest deceptive ploy is called The Manhattan Declaration – so named because of an ecumenical group that met in Manhattan in 2009.
“We are Orthodox, Catholic, and evangelical Christians who have united at this hour to reaffirm fundamental truths about justice and the common good, and to call upon our fellow citizens, believers and non-believers alike, to join us in defending them.”
“The purpose of the declaration is simply to speak with one voice on the most pressing moral issues of our day …. It is extremely unfortunate that anyone who claims to follow Christ might attack another for either signing or not signing it. The focus of Christian criticism should be on the secular world rather than on each other.”
The above counsel could not be more wrong. Throughout the New Testament, we find Jesus and the apostles contending against false teaching in the churches -- not judging the actions of unbelievers and compelling Christians to march on the government in protest. The apostles confronted doctrinal issues, such as requiring circumcision for salvation (Acts 15:1-2), teaching that there is no resurrection of the dead (1 Corinthians 15:12), glorifying men in the temple of God (1 Corinthians 3:16-21), professing to know God while rejecting His commands (1John 2:4). Jude clearly compels us to “earnestly contend for the faith” of Christ, against deceivers who creep their way into the churches.
The Manhattan Declaration compels us to abandon discernment and turn aside from our God given mandate to preach the gospel to every creature.
The apostle Paul specifically drew a line between exercising judgment in the church rather than outside of it:
“For what have I to do to judge them also
that are without? Do not ye judge them that
are within? But them that are without God
judgeth.” (1 Corinthians 5:12-13)
In other words, those who are “without” (i.e. outside the Church) are judged by God, not the Church.
Thank God, some leaders such as John MacArthur recognize the deception for what it is, and have refused to sign it. MacArthur writes:
“Instead of acknowledging the true depth of our differences, the implicit assumption (from the start of the document until its final paragraph) is that Roman Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, Protestant Evangelicals and others all share a common faith in and a common commitment to the gospel’s essential claims.”

There is also a great article from Lighthouse Trails on the Manhattan Declaration, as well as its connections to the Emerging Church.
"TARES AMONG THE WHEAT"
We are very excited (and a little surprised) that there has been so much interest from our audience concerning the sequel to “Lamp.” At the end of the film we let you know that our story will continue in Tares Among the Wheat, which will be part two of this new series. Part one is very important because a person really cannot understand the modern conflicts over the Bible unless he has some knowledge of the history leading up to the 20th century. For those who have seen “Lamp,” it’s clear that Rome’s hatred of the Word of God and her relentless persecution of those who believe it is a key factor. This war over the Bible is more than a thousand years old, and did not begin with what is often called the “King James Only movement” – a movement that often misrepresents what is really happening, in my opinion. Part two will pick up the history where part one has left off.
As the series continues, we will show an incredible amount of hair raising evidence that the Jesuit Counter Reformation continues to this very day; and that the Bible is right in the center of it. Rome’s ambition is to destroy biblical Christianity and amalgamate the world into a single world order, politically, economically and spiritually – all under the authority of the Pope.
All that said let me answer some of the questions we are getting. A Lamp in the Dark is the first of what we plan to be a three part series. Part two is called Tares Among the Wheat and will continue the Bible’s history through the 19th and early 20th century. We believe our audience will be amazed when we show them the infiltration methods Rome has employed to subvert the Church and the Word of God. We have done most of the filming for “Tares,” and plan to begin editing in January. God willing, this second part will be finished by this summer (2010). Part three is called Bridge to Babylon and will most likely be finished by January/February of 2011, if the Lord tarries and permits us to finish this work.
Please pray for this series, that it may be a blessing to many and that the Lord will grant us wisdom as we move forward. For those who have seen the first part, it’s clear that our history of the Bible has a lot more to it than just information about the Scriptures. It’s also a history of the Church, and of the spiritual conflict prophesied in scripture, which will ultimately carry the whole world to Armageddon.
REVIEWS FOR “A LAMP IN THE DARK”
We are very thankful for the supportive response we’ve received concerning the new film. Here are some of the reviews that have been sent to us:
“I just finished watching the new documentary A Lamp in the Dark: the Untold History of the Bible and I am greatly encouraged by the meticulous research that obviously went into this production. Further, what a blessing to watch a DVD that captures the flavor of the war on God’s Word and frightening persecutions that those who translated and preached the Bible faced! I would encourage EVERYONE who loves the Word of God to view A Lamp in the Dark. Believe me your eyes will be opened …”
-- Dr. David L. Brown, Dean Burgon Society
"A Lamp in the Dark is the best history of the Reformation English Bible I have ever seen. It should be a required tool for every Bible College and Seminary student in the land. Every pastor of every Bible-believing Church should view it with his congregation …"
– Eric Jon Phelps, Author/Vatican Assassins
“Drawing unparalleled in-depth research … A Lamp in the Dark tells the epic story of the preservation of God’s Word and the battle to give it to the common man in his own tongue. The film comes as a timely reminder to Christians in a day when we are in danger of forgetting and taking for granted our Protestant past and the great men of God who were its prime movers. As God’s Word warned about those who would “corrupt” the Word of God, A Lamp in the Dark shows how this attack is nothing new, and has been going on for thousands of years. This film is essential viewing and provides a motion picture masterpiece that is an excellent springboard for those wishing to investigate the history of the Bible and the Bible versions issue.”
-- Luke Barker, The Lord’s Work Trust (England)
“Pinto leaves us spellbound again. A Lamp in the Dark, like his prior works, leaves us with a call to action, and a stirring inside to respond to this compelling information. People will never look at the Bible the same way again and will now take notice of the battle over God's Word that now rages around us. This latest production continues Pinto’s reputation for shocking revelations, enlightened analysis and high dramatic style ...”
-- Dr. J. Michael Bennett, (a.k.a. “Dr. Future”) Futurequake Radio
"We found Lamp in the Dark of excellent quality and well done from beginning to end. Can be extremely valuable to introduce others into true history of both the scriptures (preservations and attacks), and a biblical perspective of knowing the Lord has always had a remnant outside the camp … to study history in light of the scriptures and wake up to the apostasy of today.”
-- Donald Blanton, Worldwide Distributor for Bible Based Ministries (South Africa)
“As a senior pastor for nearly 25 years I loved equipping young people who felt called to preach the Gospel with a passion for the Word of God. If I would have had access to such an extraordinary documentary like A Lamp in the Dark it would have been not only a helpful tool for communicating critical information about the history of the Bible, but an integral part of the curriculum in the schools we operated.
“It is my earnest prayer that individuals, pastors, ministries and churches will share this powerful DVD with their friends and congregations. You cannot watch this film without growing in appreciation for the providence of God as well as seeing His guiding hand at work in delivering to the world A Lamp in the Dark.”

AN INTERESTING EMAIL
We received this email a short time ago from a devout Catholic who was apparently offended at the AF website. We wanted to share the email to show our readers that the spiritual blindness inspired by Rome is powerful, and that the ancient doctrines concerning the papacy and its claims of apostolic authority continue to this very day:
“I was surfing the web and came upon your site, quite by accident. As you know from your study of Sacred Scripture, satan is the father of ALL lies and, on the other hand, the Truth shall set us free.
“While I am QUITE sure that your hatred for the Church that the Christ established has a stronger grip on your will than does the TRUTH, I would encourage you to pray for Wisdom and, by the Grace of God, have those scales removed from your eyes that you may see.
“I sometimes wonder why, Jesus established His Mystical Body on earth, the Church and left it to imperfect Man. And though we have His guarantee that the Holy Spirit will be with us, guiding us to ALL Truth, and the He, Himself will never leave us or forsake us, still we are imperfect, we have free will, and we sin. Thus we could go back and forth arguing about instances of abuse, oppression, violence, corruption, scandal, etc., until we are blue in the face and accomplishing NOTHING.
“The fact of the matter is that in SPITE of our failings, the gates of hell shall NOT prevail against His Church and His Church shall be the keeper and dispenser of the ALL Truth (paraphrase Timothy 23). This is why such GREAT Doctors of the CHURCH as Saint Cardinal Newman has said that to know history is to be Catholic.
“So . . . I will pray for you as I pray for us all, as Christ did at the last supper, that we all be UNITED in the one TRUE FAITH, that HE established. And regardless of what infallible, misguided, blind, and even sometimes malicious men may say, and regardless of the sins of men, that Church is the Catholic Church, Jesuits and all.”
“God Bless. With Love in Christ, Tom”
Thanks for your note and your concern for the truth. But are you really abiding in truth? Or are you simply believing an ancient lie?
The delusion you have embraced is the idea that a man-made system of religion somehow
honors God, even though it is designed in direct opposition to His commands. Ultimately, we will not be judged on how well we obeyed the pope or the Roman Catholic Church; but rather, on how well we kept the commandments of God, and the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus said:
"And if any man hear my words, and believe not,
I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world,
but to save the world. He that rejecteth me, and
receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him:
the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge
him on the last day." (John 12:47-48)
According to the scriptures, we will be judged by the words of Christ, not the words of men. Jesus warned the Jewish leaders: "... in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men." (Matthew 15:9)
Man made doctrines do not honor God, and will not save anyone. The pope does not have the power to raise you from the dead, and neither do the saints of Rome.
Ask yourself this question: If you died tonight, what do you think would happen? Would you go to heaven? Or would you go to hell? If heaven, then why? If hell, then why? Why should God receive you into His everlasting Kingdom? Or why would He send you into everlasting torment?
All of the evil deeds of Rome aside, the real issue is SALVATION. Are you saved? If so, how do you know are you saved? The apostle Paul said, "... for I know whom I have believed" (2 Timothy 1:12). Do you know whom you have believed?
If you want to learn more about the true history of the Church, and the difference between the true church of Jesus Christ, and the false church (which is warned about in Revelation chapter 17), then I highly recommend you watch our newest documentary, "A Lamp in the Dark: the Untold History of the Bible." In this film, we show the origin
of the Roman Church and that it is the fulfillment of warnings we were given by Christ and the Apostles.
Remember that Jesus said, "... Take heed that no man deceive you." (Matthew 24:4) We are commanded to avoid deception, and to be careful about what we believe. Yet I am confident that if you seek the truth, the Lord Himself will show it to you. If we can be of any help to you, please let us know. If you will send me your mailing address, I will send you a gift copy of our new film.

Tom responded. He wrote:
"… believing an ancient lie …" ??? An ancient lie started by Jesus the Christ ??? Really Chris, you are showing your ignorance. Why are you persecuting His Church ???
The CHURCH, started by CHRIST … ahh that would be the CATHOLIC CHURCH, put together the very Scripture that YOU rely upon to defend and spread your heresy. You are sadly deluded and missing the point. THANK GOD, HE is merciful.
No NEED for further comment. I have been warned by Scripture NOT to cast my pearls among swine. God Bless. (Tom)
I wrote Tom back one final time, and invited him again to receive a copy of “Lamp” so he could learn things about church history that are not commonly known, and are definitely withheld and covered up by the Church of Rome. We still haven’t heard back from him.
God bless, CJP
